Timecrest app good for
... Ans its even compatible with the apple watch. Its pretty well written too. Its a bit like "a young mage in another universe" message you. And you have an Apple Watch complication that let you know the state of the game and can get to the watch app in one touch. Everything is playable on the watch or the phone.
Its my favorite apple watch game so far.
This is the first non-gimmicky Apple Watch game Ive found. Also the first custom complication I have installed.
Looking forward to seeing how it plays out. I actually like the delay, it means It doesnt take much of my time, but is there to follow up on whenever I want.
Its amazing!I love the storyline, characters and the other stuff.I hope to see the update soon!
This game is amazing. Super addictive and can be played so many times over. Great story line and love how easily it flows into each chapter. Twist and turns every selection you make
This is such a fun game, between this and lifeline are my two favourite "choose your own adventure" non linear story games. This game is significantly slower however then lifeline which is sort of upsetting at times when you have to wait almost an hour for an action to occur.
The story is so captivating I find myself engrossed and always anxious to learn what happens next. As I become more familiar with the characters, I cant help but care more and more about them, their actions and their interactions with each other. Every choice we make affects which direction the storyline is going to develop into, and Im happy that we can always replay the game to experience and discover something new again.
Well done!
Some bad moments
The first Timecrest was fantastic!! As soon as I downloaded the second it crashed my game and erased my entire first game data making me replay EVERYTHING before I could continue with the second. I am so disappointed. I waited so long for that. Had to uninstall.
Lifeline popularized this style of passive interactive fiction, which Timecrest borrows heavily from. The difference, however, lies in the quality and brevity of the writing. In Lifeline, every decision felt meaningful and drove the narrative forward. In Timecrest, the narrative circles aimlessly and nothing happens.
(Spoilers ahead) Ive gotten to the part where the fire is spreading around Timecrest, and Elise says "I wish". Right after that, it stops. The story literally doesnt continue. I tried saving my game hoping it would fix it, but it didnt. I didnt want to reload and old save because my old one was too far back. Please fix.
I want to like this game. I do. I love "choose your own adventure" games. This one falls short, for me at least. Ill tell you what I like, and what I dont.
I gave the game 3 stars because I know that it took a lot of work. I read a message on the game forum where the creators discussed the process and the time that it took them to get it right. I really want to give it 2. One star for creativity, and one star for length. Im on a 24 hour wait right now so I really cant say that it lacks length.
Now. On a choose your own adventure game, I would like to be able to make choices. It was very frustrating to be given a choice, to pick one, then have the main character do what he wanted to do, which was not what I picked. Why did you give me the choice then?
Also, Ash talks a lot. Its annoying. There is actually too much story, and in this format, its confusing.
Last thing. I understand that you want to make money on the game. And I happily pay a few dollars towards developers who go above and beyond in gaming. But this game is rather shameless in trying to push you to buy currency to speed things up. Ash goes on a monologue. Text pops up for a minute straight. I am given the option to choose to ask what is essentially the same question written in two different ways (Ash does what he wants, I just get to ask "what do you see?" or "what happened?" occasionally. Then suddenly Im waiting for 8 hours while he investigates or walks. Im on a 24 hour wait now. Last night I left off at a 9 hour wait. Really?
Its really a different game than Lifeline, but I appreciate that I pay once for that and other games in the series, then I dont have to pay again.
So, there you have it. Im interested in the story, but the actual gameplay isnt very good. Im sure the developers will make improvements or tweak their next endeavor. Theres potential here, just please work on it, guys.
**update** I came to the end today. It took about a month with daily playing and not paying a dime for time crystals. Im disappointed & lowering my review to 2/5 stars. Ash does what he wants - your choices dont seem to matter. He is extremely unlikeable as a main character. Theres a lot of whining & pouting. More dialogue than story. It just felt like a massive waste of time, literally (I spent the last 2 days on 4 hour waits between maybe 60 seconds of story progression).
Love the story, but I neither have the patience nor money to fund the completion of this adventure. I wish there werent interminably long wait times and impossibly expensive ways to enjoy this story. It would also help if there were more ways to earn time crystals and gold.
I love the idea of this game and that its watch based too!
It would be more realistic if there were not a timer telling you exactly how long its going to take for the next message to come in. Also, some of the amounts of time for tasks seems a little long. Thats why Id rather not see the timer and just wait... As if the game were real.
